Yashica Electro 35 GSN
The Yashica Electro 35 GSN was the chrome version of the black GTN. A full sized fixed lens range finder. Both hit the market in 1973.
In use, design and functionality, the GSN is the same as the GTN and very similar to the GT that I have shot before. I will normally pick a black camera over a chrome, just personal preference. But, the GSN looks great in chrome. It just looks like a real camera. In some future reference library of long forgotten technology they should use the GSN as the reference picture for how a proper film camera looked.
The GSN is not perfect. The view finder could be brighter and the electronics on many of them are getting old and sometimes fail. Plus they take a now unavailable battery so you need to use an adapter (or bit of aluminium foil). All that said, the Electo 35 series has a fantastic lens and is fun to use. If you have one test it and feed it some film. If you have never used a film range finder, a Yashica Electro 35 (any of the versions) is an affordable way to try.
