Pentax IQZoom 105 WR
The 1998 Pentax IQZoom 105WR is a fully automatic point and shoot that claimed to be weather resistant. It was also sold as the Espio 105WR.
The 105WR boasts “Class 5” Weather Resistant capability. Sounds impressive but I’m not sure what class 5 really means. The literature says it is safe to use in the rain, snow, and dust. Safe to splash and even rinse in water but not safe to submerge. The case has a thin rubber gasket in place of light seals.
Other than the weather claim, the 105WR is your basic fully automatic point and shoot. The flash is automatic by default but can be turned off. Unfortunately, you must remember to turn if off every time you turn the camera on. The Zoom was a bit loud but what you would expect for this type of camera.
My Take:
The 105WR felt solid in the hand. It is large for a point and shoot but not for having the added weather resistant capability. Not full swim capability but should be able to take a day at the beach or in the snow. For me, this camera falls in that class of good camera to take when I want a camera but don’t want to worry about the safety of a camera. Delivers decent images and should be able to take some abuse. Battery is a single CR123 so even that is easy.
