Holga 135 White
Introduced as a limited production in 2005, the Holga 135 is a 35mm version of the cult classic Holga 120.
The original Holga is a 120 format camera that started in the early 1982’s and became popular for the artsy aesthetic and simplicity. In 2005 they tested the market with a 35mm version. This is the standard version. I also shot the Holga 135BC. Operations are Holga simple: Shutter is 1/100 or bulb, Apeture is f11 or f/8 and the lens is plastic.
The 135mm version is not as popular as the 120 version but is still not a rare camera. It sold new until recently for US$50. No indication if there will ever be a new release of the 135.
My Take:
No secret I like the Holga. It is not the camera a pick first or trust for an important shot, but as a fun creative tool, I like Holga. I like the freedom of having low expectations and being presently surprised by the outcome. This Holga 135 was a very Holga experience. Found it cheap, loaded it with expired film, pointed it a stuff and smiled.
I did not notice a big difference compared to the Holga 135BC with the added bracketing in the corners. The drop off in the corners of the BC are more pronounced but still nice on this non-BC. I would recommend either if you want to try a Holga in 35mm.
