Canon Sure Shot 76 Zoom
The Sure Shot 76 ZOOM was also know as the Autoboy Juno 76 and the Prima ZOOM 76. It was introduced in 1995. Mid 90s seem to be a prime time for basic consume point and shoots. The technology was advanced enough that makers could produce a decent image quality at an affordable price.
The Sure Shot 76 ZOOM followed the same path that the other camera companies were following, with incremental improvements and changes to the prior model but nothing groundbreaking. Blindfolded you could pick up this or several other cameras from the same time and know it was a point and shoot but not know who make it or be able to tell them apart. The good news is you could leave the blindfold on and use it just fine.
My Take:
Always happy to spend a few $ on a cheap thrill. The Sure Shot 76 is not an inspiring camera but does the job. Point shoot - repeat. One thing I did like about the 76 is the on/off dial on the back lets you control the flash and self timer at start up. So, if you don’t want a flash or want to force the flash or use red eye reduction, you can to it as you turn it on. Most of the time I do not want a flash but most point and shoot cameras make you control it from a dedicated flash button. I like the 76 approach. Well done. Plus the image quality was nice. Good use of US$5.
