AGFA Optima Sensor Flash
Manufactured between 1981 to 1983, the Optima Flash is the AGFA continuation of the Optima Sensor line.
The Optima Flash is part of the same family as the Optima 1535 that I shot previously. I found the 1535 to be a novel design. The Flash take this a few step too far. The 1535 is a rangefinder but the Flash is a zone focus. It seem to have the same lens a 40mm 2.8. and the basic shape is similar. Then the Flash add on size to accommodate the 2XAAA batteries that power everything. Plus a good size flash arm. In total the Flash feels much larger than the 1535. In use the Flash shares the quality feel of the 1535 and is equally simple to use.
My Take:
I found the Flash too big to call it a pocket camera but not significantly larger that most to the '70/'80 consumer cameras with built in flash. The build quality is good and the camera feels solid. Mine had a light leak as can be seen on the sample shots. I would not put the Flash on par with the 1535, but if you have one or find one give it a try. I do like that it all runs on AAA batteries (even at the cost of size). The image quality was reasonable.
