Holga 120 GCFN

The Holga 120 GCFN is the most feature rich Holga. With the Holga threw everything at this camera. Including a lens made from real glass.

The original Holga was the Holga 120S introduced in the 1980s. Sometime in the early 2000s, the original S was replaced by the Holga 120N. The big update was the simple fact that now they made one of the only controls, the sunny/cloudy f-stop, actually do something. The 120N became a platform for Holga to add options.

To decode the Holga 120 GCFN: The G means it has a Glass lens. The CF means it has a color flash. The N signifies it is built on the 120N base. Not that mysterious of a code but one that give us a variety of Holga cameras that are all basically the same body.

My Take:

This is a Holga and everything that goes with it. The real question is what putting a glass lens does for a Holga. Does a glass lens ruin that Holga toy camera look. Well not based on my experience. I did not notice a significant change in the look that you get from the glass lens. Than is a good thing. It is a Holga, you pick a Holga for that look. Not for the superior quality of the lens.

Should you seek out a glass lens Holga? I don’t see why. But, I don’t see a need to avoid one. Just find the Holga you find and give it a try.
